Surge-on Medical starts cooperative project with Van Straten
Surge-on Medical and Van Straten Medical are now collaborating in the development of steerable instruments for arthroscopy and laparoscopy. Niels van Straten, sales manager of Van Straten Medical, proudly stated that: “It is a privilege to be part of this development and to manufacture the world’s first steerable arthroscopic punch”.
Through this cooperative project, Surge-on will strengthen its patented technology in the Steerable Punch for arthroscopy and in the Steerable Grasper for laparoscopy. The R&D will also cover the manufacturing optimization of both instruments and its cleaning systems in order to be used soon in hospitals. The research activities will take place along two years, but market introduction is expected earlier.
“The subsidy from the province Zuid-Holland gave us a great opportunity to strengthen an already strong relationship with Van Straten Medical”, said Benno Groosman, CEO of Surge-on Medical. “The goal is to keep improving our quality and to reduce the costs of our innovative instruments”.
